Final Creative Writing Piece

The Awakening

I awaken in a cold moist room, not knowing where I am and why I’m here my curiosity kicks in I look around the room and see nothing but old fragile furniture and a Door. I look down and analyze the bed I’m in, in the corner of my left eye I see my left arm say Subject #37428

Filled curiosity I get up from the bed and walk towards the door, once at the door I wait a moment to build up my courage anxiety and curiosity fluster my brain. Ready for anything I open the door

I open my eyes and see that I’m in a forest-like area. Mammoth like grey trees tower over me blue and red leaves cover the turquoise sky, the smell of seashells on a beach rush my nose.

Feelings of joy and happiness engulf me and each piece scenery soothes my soul and leaves me in awe. But all of a sudden multiple men in hazmat suits appear. They don’t look happy and they have guns. I wave my hand to see if they’re friendly within a second all I hear is Gunfire

In shock, I run away in distress speeding through the uneven white ground hoping that there will be a way out of the ragged hell hole.
In a panic, I try to think of what’s happening the situation is too much for me to process.

I calm my self down and collect my thoughts. It all comes back to me I was with government agents yesterday for a job called Operation S4ND apparently it was a survival job and they needed me, the government also wanted to test their loop.

Now if I can just get away BANG! In a ragdoll motion, my whole body falls to the floor blood drips and creates a puddle. Is this death? Is this the feeling of it? My eyes shut.

I wake up in shock and disbelief and realize it was just a nightmare. Everything that happened yesterday was written in the contract it said something about the time loop, but what’s confusing me the most is that my arm still has subject on it and what more weird is the number changed, I realize this is the same room I woke up in before.

Dystopia

For English, we had to look at dystopias and some words around dystopias, we also had to answer questions from the short story the lottery
Dystopia - An imaginary state or community in which there is great suffering or injustice.
Jovial -  Joyful and cheerful
Profusely - to a big degree
Paraphernalia - Miscellaneous items and equipment
Interminably - Endless
Petulantly - Childishly sulky

The lottery questions

  1. Describe the setting, using specific details from the story in your answer. The setting is an undistinguished town located in rural America.
  2. Explain the feelings of most people in town toward the lottery.  Most of the townspeople seem to be relaxed and happy.
  3. What evidence is there that the lottery has been going on for a long time? The lottery box is tattered and old. Old Man Warner claims he has been in the lottery for around 70+ years.
  4. What is Old Man Warner’s attitude about those who would like to change things?  His attitude is negative to others for having a different opinion.
  5. Explain how the lottery works. A black box full of paper slips is brought to the town square. The townspeople gather around the town square and draw pieces of paper. They then hold another lottery with 5 pieces of paper. The people in the second lottery are stoned to death.
  6. In what way is the title, “The Lottery”, misleading?  Why would the author want to trick the reader by having a misleading title? The title of Jacksons' story makes you think of a present-day lottery-type like the ones we have nowadays where you get a prize if you win but in the book if you win the lottery you die.

Why do you think this is a dystopian story? Because of it being a society with a suffering justice where you die if you win the lottery.
Does it remind you of others? No

Migration Presentation

For Social Studies my class has been working on the topic of migration. We had to create a presentation explaining migration. Here is the link to my video.

Movement of people to a new area to find work or more inhabitable conditions.
