Music Evaluation

For music we had to create a final summary about how we felt about music.

What has been your favourite thing about music this year? My favourite thing about music was being able to build confidence by doing a solo performance.

What have you found challenging this year?
Building confidence to sing in front of people was the hardest bit for me as I am pretty shy.

Are you taking music next year? If no which passions are you following next year? If yes, What would you like to learn next year?
Yes I am taking music next year as it is very fun and I think I could develop a better confidence and mindset for my other passions

Absurd Warnings

For English we have been working on a writing matrix ,the matrix has multiple activities to choose from. I have chosen this activity that has you create and absurd warning to an object.

Absurd Warnings
Society is becoming panicked about a lot of everyday objects. cell phones, microwaves, facebook, social media, takeaways, animals etc.
Select 5-10 objects.
For each object, write an absurd warning label that could be placed on the object when it is sold.
Example:
Sunglasses- Warning.Use of this object can result in a reduction in social status due to irregular tan lines across the eyes and face. User discretion is advised.

My Warnings

Hair Clippers- Warning improper use of this item and no experience cutting hair could lead to hair loss, embarrassment, and worst case scenario bald head for along time.

Watch - Warning improper setting of time could lead to lateness and you will be viewed as clumsy for being too late all the time.

Chair - Caution watch out for evil beings that will pull your chair so you fall over.

Book - Warning do not read if you are uninterested in reading and visualising the story and problem, failing to listen to this warning will lead to boredom

Window - Warning this is a window you can’t walk through even though you can see through the window doesn’t mean you’ll be able to phase through.

Can You Hear It.

For English we have been doing a creative writing matrix. I have chosen this activity.
Can You Hear It?
Write a descriptive paragraph or poem about a setting.
The sounds and scenery can tell where a story is, how the characters are feeling.
Background sounds can be used to show where the character is.  eg. If she is at home in the summertime: the sound of a lawnmower
eg. The trees swayed softly in the breeze
is very different to  “The branches scratched viciously against the window’

My Paragraph

The tree gently, swindles, and turns leaves rippling in a pattern. The tree lightly whiplashes through the air.

Weather with you.

For English we have been doing a creative writing matrix. I have chosen this activity.
Weather with You
Write a descriptive paragraph or poem about a character.
The weather shows how your character is feeling e.g If she is sad, the weather will be grey and cloudy, maybe with some rain.
Show, don’t tell

My paragraph

Weather With You.

Every time he’s mad, it’s like a furious typhoon raging through the northern hemisphere, always leaving an aftermath of disaster.

Six Sentence Story

For English we have been introduced to a creative writing matrix, we get to choose the story and work we want to do. For today I chose to do The Six Sentence Story.

Once upon a time, there was an enormous black dog. The big black dog lived in a little shed watching people walk past. The big black dog was a very strong dog that could break fences triple the size of him. However everyday people would judge and laugh at the big black dog as we the big black dog was never allowed outside of the shed. The big black dog felt angry and sad because they never understood how he felt. But one day the big black dog had enough of the people making a mockery of him, and he ran into the gate and crashed through it chasing the people that mocked him.

This is mine

What were doing in English?

Image result for hunt for the wilderpeopleIn English we are making a 5 paragraph essay about the film we have studied which is called Hunt for the Wilder-people.

I have never did something like this before so it is quite uncomfortable but I think the Paragraph/Essay experience will be good in the coming future. Creating the paragraph is also quite boring.

In our other teachers English class we are reading a book called the Cay and analysing the details that make it a good book.

Pie and Area

Pie and Area Conclusion
1. What were the main mathematical concepts and ideas that you learned or discussed in class?
We learned how to find circumference, radius, diameter, perimeter and how to find area.

2. Describe a mistake or misconception that you and or your classmate. How did you learn this mistake?
I struggled with finding the radius but soon found out that radius is half of a diameter.

3.What new vocabulary did you learn?
Circumference: Circumference to diameter. You probably noticed that since diameter is twice the radius, the proportion between circumference and diameter is equal to π: C/D = 2πR / 2R = π This proportion (circumferenceto diameter) is the definition of the constant pi. It is used in many areas, including physics and mathematics.

Math Blog

For maths we are blogging about one of the past problems and how we learnt it.
Problem 1:
It’s 5km from Jordan’s whare to where his Koro lives. It’s uphill on the way there so he can only cycle at 10kph but he can do 20kph on the way back.

Jordan leaves his whare at 6pm. How long can he stop at his Koro’s whare if he wants to be back home for his favourite TV programme at 7pm?

This was one of the problems that got too me and took some time for me to figure out.

I learnt the technique to this problem.

Problem 3:
Light travels at 3.00 x 108 m per second
The radius of the Earth is 6.37 x 106 m
How many times can light travel around the earth in 1 second? (if it didn’t have to travel in straight lines)
This problem was very difficult for me and it took me a very long time to solve this, I find this problem pretty hard.
This problem was difficult for me and still is.

Bellwork Choice

Miss Mclaren had made a decision to make Fridays do bellwork of our own choice but it has to be related to literacy.

I chose to improve my illustrating. I have started by making a little comic. This comic is just a quick one from my mind it is about a battle that was fought for multiple years. They are fighting for freedom. The characters are a demon and a demi-god.

It is not done yet I hope to improve it and finish it before the term ends. If you have any feedback just comment down below, any feedback would help.
