Aron animal adaptation: Wolf paw

Front view

We have been looking at animal adaptations and how they help them survive in the wild! I chose the wolf paw for my adaptation. I created a clay model of a wolf paw. I have also found some information about it.

Facts

  • Wolf tracks can be found in almost any terrain (except on rocks..) Usually a wolf would keep it's tracks in a straight line if it's deep, usually only in snow.
    • Wolves have pads to keep their paws safe, pads are an extra tough skin so they may go where they please. A wolf pad could be cut, it is possible, but if it does not get fixed it could get infected.Adult wolves have large feet.
    • A fully grown wolf would have a paw print nearly 13 centimetres long and 10 centimetres wide
  • A wolf track is not as big as it's paw, because they have pads.

Aron's Metaphor and Simile.

W.A.L.T. understand the messages of metaphors and similes.

We are learning about the difference of metaphors and similes.
One of our activities was to match song metaphors to the metaphors area, and song similes to the similes area.

Operation Calf Rescue

Operation Calf Rescue
W.A.L.T recall  events through the eyes of an animal.

It was at least a 20 degree day, in May on the African Plains. My herd and I were migrating south when I caught a sudden whiff of danger! I told my herd to slow down because the area felt suspicious.
We took 4 steps forward, when suddenly a few lions jumped us, a few seconds later we were sprinting away.
We had to protect the young but our bodies only felt the need to run.
The only thing on my mind is, will the young die, will I be blamed? No, maybe if I keep running they won’t die, BAM! One of the lions isolates the calf and wrestles him down into the water. I felt sorrowful that I couldn’t save the young. I could hear the calf scream in my mind. I couldn’t bare the screams, it was as loud as a psychotic fire alarm, I had to make it stop, all the shrieking and loud noises.  As soon as we got back I saw a vision, the calf was being devoured by the blood hungry lion’s. Every bite they took got more disturbing, their razor blade like teeth puncturing the calf’s body, I needed to stop it, it must go away at some point it. If it won't stop, I’ll have to stop it. I go around looking for men worthy to fight against the ruthless lions.

Almost every buffalo joins me for the rescue mission. We set out to fight the lions and rescue the calf A.S.A.P.  We wouldn’t rest until the deed was done, that was our mission. We arrive staring at the lions while they try to sink their scalpel like teeth and bite with their dinosaur like jaws. We started ramming, charging, bashing, and battering the lions. The pride of lions looked frightened, scared, afraid just like the calf, you could see it in their eyes. At last the brawl ended.
We were successful at the rescue operation. We saved the young, the herd felt so proud, we rescued the calf from the brink of death.  The look on the calf's face was tremendously happy. It was like a new year's day party, we were as loud as 10 fire alarms celebrating joyfully. I heard victory, I heard cheers, moo’s , and stomping,  the area felt satisfying like we owned it. Life appeared and almost  disappeared for the young, this is a moment he will never forget.
