Brainstorm:

Warm/Cold - Colour pallete.

Bright/Dull -

Natural/Artificial -

  • What is happening in the scene?
  • What types of colours are being used in this location?(Warm/Cold, bright/dull, Natural/Artificial)
  • What effect does this have the viewer?
  • Why has the director used the colours/lighting?
  • What other techniques add to this effect?
Natural Green and Brown

Artificial White and Vibrant Cold Colours

Artificial Blue and Grey

In the film the Hunger Games by Gary Ross lighting is used effectively so show the difference between District 12 and the Capitol. In District 12 we see mainly brown, green and grey these are natural colours. In the Capitol we see artificial, vibrant colours.

This makes us understand has the privilege of futuristic lighting. The director did this too show the theme Rich vs Poor. The power of the Capitol, over District 12 is shown through the use of technology. The lack of opportunity in District 12 is highlighted by their lack of modern technology. Lighting in each location can be compared to the possibility of hope and rebellion setting in each setting.

What have I learned? How to include different themes to the link
How does this work show my learning? This includes all of the lighting possibilities.
