Festival of the Arts Write-Up
Aim: Create draw able optical illusions.
Results: We had created 7 optical illusions they aren't as effective because the lighting colour angle and size are different with the pencil.
The reason some of the illusions do work is because some of the illusions dont need lighting colour and angles.
Note: The way optical illusions work is that they use light colour, angles and size to create a mask of deception and trick you.
Evaluation: Our experiment went good for most of the time but their was a few muck around moments.
Some of the illusions are very successful but the others dont work too well.
What went and why it went wrong?
Most illusions didn't work to effectively because of our shading and details in the drawings.
Could You fix it? We could probably fix it if we had more experience with drawing optical illusions and had colours to make the drawings better.
What experiment could you do to follow on?
We could create our own optical illusion to trick minds with images and angles.

Photography
What I have been doing?
Today I have been taking photographs of different things.
We had to put our pictures on a google doc . The work was not hard. I felt a little bored.
Challenges: Finding things to take photos of.

Uru Manuka Logo
I created this logo and chose these colours because?
I created this tree because trees stand out, and I chose these colours because the brown is an earthly aura and the green is harmonious.
I created this logo because the manuka flower and sun are something that stand out towards the earth.
I chose these colours because the orange creates vibes, and the green relaxes the mind because of its plentiful harmony.

Gymnastics
I want to try to get better at the bar and become more flexible.
This period I was doing rolls on the beam and using the bar. The bar was the funnest equipment/obstacle.

P.E
Gymnastics:
In P.E we are starting gymnastics, I don't really like gymnastics because you have to perform in front of other people and I don't have much confidence.
Reflection This Period:
Today I felt like gymnastics was actually pretty fun, because our teacher made it fun because he showed us everything about the normal basics.
Conclusion. Gymnastics is alright.

Hauora in Science
Aim: I want to find out how long meat can be preserved?
Method: Try to preserve meat with salt, sugar, and honey.
Which of these ingredients will preserve the meat the best?
1. Put 1 piece of beef the size of a potato into a zip-lock bag and then put salt into the bag.
2. Then put the next piece of beef same size as the last into a zip-lock bag and then put sugar into the bag.
3.Finally put the last piece of beef the same size as the last two into a zip-lock bag and then put honey into the bag.
Observations:

Observations:
Conclusion:
Honey Meat.
"The honey meat looked like a raw juicy piece of meat."
"The honey meat smelt like honey."
"The honey meat felt like a normal piece of meat."
"The honey meat sounded like a squishy plastic bag."
1 week later.
"the meat looked human feces and smelt so bad I can't even explain it, also it felt like tender hunky meat."
Discussion:
- What I found out: Meat must be dried before preservation.
- I found out that salt, sugar and honey can kill bacteria. Salt drys out bacteria.
- You can dry out meat with salt.
- Why was my meat rancid. My meat was rancid because there was still moisture in the meat.
- What can I do next? Restart the procedure but to hang up the meat.

How to be safe in Science

Tube,
Cold water,
Safety goggles,
tap,
gas tap,
lighter.
Method:

This is a photo of my friend Cole.
He says it "It smelt like a burning erosion of asparagus, and it felt like I was going to get burnt because I had fire in front of my precious face. Then he talked about how it looked he said" it looked like a flame ball blow up."Cole then said"I could hear the flame ball explode."
Explaining
Why does hot air rise. Hot air rises because when you heat up air it expands when the air expands it becomes less dense then the air around it. The less dense hot air then floats in the more dense cold air like how wood floats on water because its less dense.
Why is gas flammable? flammable and combustible liquids do not burn themselves. It is the mixture of their vapors and air that burns. Gasoline, with a flashpoint of -40°C (-40°F), is a flammable liquid. Even at temperatures as low as -40°C (-40°F), it gives off enough vapour to form a burnable mixture in air.

- Get a big bucket/box.
- Get liquid soap/detergent and put in a good amount.
- Fill bucket halfway with cold water.
- Pull your sleeve's up, take off loose clothing , tie up your long hair- if you have long hair.
- Make sure you have safety goggles and put them on!!
- Connect the tube up to the gas tap, and then put the other end end of the tube in the water.
- Turn on the gas and make some bubbles.
- Wet your hands, wrist and forearm/ wet your hands up to your elbows.

- Hold the bubbles away from your face.

To Elaine
I am writing this to you because of the phenomenal trip I had at Orana Park learning all about the animals and facts about taxidermist and endangered animals.
I would like to come back again and learn more about the animals I couldn't visit. All of the animals were nice and chill, but my favorite animal was the the gorilla it was laid back and funny.
I wish that I could see all of the animals and learn all about them.
Yours Sincerely. Aron
