Music and Civil Rights

 1. How did music affect the Civil Rights movement? Music and singing gave the people a voice during the Civil Rights movement.  Although people were attacked and hurt standing up for what they wanted they continued to fight for equal rights.  The songs during that time were referred to as freedom songs. 2. Why was music such a powerful force? Music is a language of emotion in that it can represent different feelings and barge into the soul with no boundaries or limitations. Info Link
