Hunger Games Themes and Ideas

 Rich and Poor

Hope & Rebellion

Struggle for Power

Power of Propaganda

For the two ideas/themes we will first brainstorm.

  • Explain what it means
  • Find two examples in the film
  • Describe how it shows the theme
Rich vs Poor:
Poverty, Power, Privilege.
Rich- Lots of money, opportunities, privilege, power, fame.
Poor- less opportunities, no power, less money, disadvantage

Definition: it is more then just money it involves power, privilege, and opportunities

Rich:
  • Capitol - They don´t get reaped. Plenty of food excessive amounts, better clothes, lots of clothes, the can coordinate and choose what they want, choice and opportunity, Better buildings futuristic, not worn out, different buildings, more architectural and structured better, advanced technology, medical technology, blood scanners, healing balms, Children- Not worried, don´t work, play around
  • President Snow,
  • District 1
  • Caesar
Poor
  • District 12 & 11
  • District 12-Worn out buildings, Old buildings, not secure, holes in the roofs, made from cheap wood, broken windows. No materials to improve the structures and architecture, no electricity.
  • Clothing- Bland no colours, worn out, raggedy, not much clothes, old work clothes, suspenders and button up shirts, trousers and shorts, we´re shown clothes that aren´t properly fitted, handed down clothes, dresses, shirts and skirts, Jackets coal miners-black, grey dark colours don´t show the dirt.
  • Technology -Medicines- nothing seen, sick are seen, health privilege, transport is walking, electric fence doesn´t work- not enough energy to keep it going.
  • Food- Scare and barely any, hunting food, rationed out, put your name into the reaping for extra food.
  • Children- Working, barely free time, pushing sticks into the mud, scared of the reaping and the hunger games, become a coal miner, barely any opportunities,
Paragraph type: SEXXXY
In the Hunger Games´, setting is used effectively to show the theme is ´Rich Vs Poor´. Rich vs poor is more then just money it involves power, privilege, and opportunities. For Instance, we can see privilege through the idea of privilege reflected in the physical environments of District 12 and the Capitol. In District 12 the buildings are worn out, broken down, and not secure whereas the buildings in the Capitol show variation, modern design, advanced materials and are built on a grand scale. This makes the audience think about the differences in wealth and power between the two locations. District 12 has nothing whilst people in the Capitol are harboured with safety and being secured in their advanced buildings. The purpose of this was to was to show that Katniss Everdeen has come from a place of less privilege and power so her success in the games was very unlikely. Coinciding with this is the use of colour. In the District 12 there is multiple browns and greens whilst the Capitol shows us a vibrant futuristic pallete of colours like metallic greys, blacks and silvers. The use of settings and colour effectively show us the imbalance of privilege between those in places like District 12 and The Capitol

Music

What song am I looking at? Usher I Cry

What is the song about? The song boasts a piano-led pop-soul groove that places Usher’s voice and lyrics front and center: “I cry,” he belts during the hook, “For the sons without fathers/And the pain that their mothers/Hold deep inside/So I’ll fight/For the future we’re making/It’ll change if we face it/’Cause these tears won’t dry.”

Usher shared a note on social media to accompany the song’s release, saying he wrote it in part because he wanted to teach his sons that it’s OK for a man to “feel emotions deeply and to cry.” He admitted that he was raised to keep such feelings in check, and his desire to proffer a different way forward for his kids came about while quarantining during the COVID-19 pandemic and watching the deaths of George Floyd and others — and the subsequent wave of Black Lives Matter protests.

When was this song created?

Usher has shared an emotional but powerful new song, “I Cry,” which was inspired by the recent wave of Black Lives Matter protests. This hit was created in June 2020.

What arrangement of the song are you doing? I am doing most of the song as it represents the message of BLM.

Why is Hope and Rebellion important? ¨Hope, it is the only thing stronger than fear. A little hope is effective, a lot of hope is dangerous. A spark is fine, as long as it's contained." Hope supposedly is stronger than fear quoted by president snow. Hope and Rebellion are the significance that make people look up to survive and strive for greatness and difference. Hope is like inspiration and motivation. President snow is scared of the people being inspired by hope as if he gives them a-lot of hope they will rise up but if he doesn't give enough they will riot. President Snow wants to dictate and maintain his power.

Maths Reflections

For Maths we learned about finance, discounts, gst and exchange rates. We have to choose one and explain the importance of it.

I Think discounts are very important as they help us change out lifestyle as we can see the benefits and differences.

We apply these when we are shopping and buying items.

Aron

They are kind of easy to use but can be annoying to make work. Not efficient when it comes to coding

It doesn’t work

Kalim

For the first couple of weeks a certain amount of people were selected to use these robots sent to us by the school.
When I used to bots I thought it was difficult and hard to use.
Why were they difficult and hard to use? For me it was complex and difficult because turning them on and trying to connect them was a little bit of a process especially for the mBot Ranger.

What was possible on the mBots? We made the mBots drift and drive around. But we weren't able to add complex moves to the coding of the mBots.

Pick a Path English

For English we were given multiple options to present our work such as, crossword , a kahoot, pick a path and a film language dictionary.

Students and Phones

Key Idea

Are Students addicted to their cellphones? If so, is that a problem?

What must you achieve?

In this paragraph I am trying to show/prove/explain that.

Introduction

Key Information you want to include

  1. Data on how we studied the students

  2. Why they are addicted to their phones

  3. Why some aren't addicted

Delivery

Best paragraph to structure to convey all this information

Some students are addicted to their phones, the students aren't addicted have other things to do.

According to King University, the average person touches their phone 2,167 times everyday, and that iPhone users unlock their phones upward of 70 times a day, whereas Samsung and Huawei users unlock their phone upwards of 110 times. CNN says that 50% of students admit to suffering from a cellphone addiction, and that 59% of parents believe their children are addicted to their cellphone. We surveyed our class to see if they were addicted to mobile phones, the survey conducted on Thursday, 6th of August showed that 29% of 10Wd considers themselves addicted to their cellphone, and 42% of students in 10Wd use their cellphone for over 4 hours a day. The reason they are addicted is because they need social media to keep up with everything and communicate with friends, they also play mobile games. The non addicted have said they have other things like sport and or chores. These reasons and examples summarise the use and addiction of students.

Technology Paragraph

Technology has developed in a positive and obliging way.

The development in technology has created more possibilities for our future to evolve.

The construction of laptops has been a substantial part of the new era as it allows the learning of students to be transferred online. This optimizes easier use of working online and creating work. Mobile technology/ phones have been considerable as they allow emergency calls and calls worldwide to be made, this allows communication to be more widespread.

Clothing has been changed due to the creation of sewing machines, this has created superior fashion and is more comfortable.

These exemplars are a summary of how life has created opportunities and changed.
