Today I read about the book called "The Story Of Hip Hop" it was created by Matt Aniss. I read 20 pages the first few pages talk about how hip hop originated it started with activities called block parties which are illegal parties which are held outside a building/ venue. A block party was when people huddled around each other as a group and someone would play a beat or song. the huddled group would send 1 or 2 people in the middle and they would dance, this would last for an multiple.
The next section was about hip hop groups. The first hude group was called "The sugarhill gang which started in 1980s, this group still performs till this day".
The next part was creating beats or scratchin discs. Too scratch a disc you would need a machine like a drum machine, another alternative was the Roland Tr-8 which created all types of beats. This would help hype and influence the crowd too listen to the raps
The Rising Stars.
Another Hip hop group called Run Dmc was rising too the top, they were famous for the funky style they brought to the industry. They wore Adidas jumpsuits, gold chains and very baggy pants called hammer pants. The music they produced was also very catchy and anybody could listen too it.
Hardcore Hip Hop.
Later towards the 1990-2000s hardcore hip hop began where rappers talked about gangs, violence, drinking, woman, drugs and guns. People who authenticated the style of rap were Tupac, Dr Dre, Biggie Smalls/Notorious B.I.G, Eazy E and Ice T.
This is how far I got into the book, it is a really good book that will interest you if your into hip hop and rap.
Wow Aron, your blog is full of interesting information and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It has made me interested in reading the book as I know very little about Rap although it has been around for quite some time. I enjoyed the part about the hammer pants as we have some in our dress up box. Who is your favourite artist?
